Millions of unique fossils, both plant and animal, have been captured over tens of thousands of years in the La Brea Tar Pits, found in Los Angeles, California.  This time capsule of fossils have taught scientists about extinct species, ancient ecosystems, and climate change.  What other mysteries might be uncovered as we continue to explore the depths of the La Brea Tar Pits?

I love learning about the special places found all over planet Earth, and the La Brea Tar Pits are definitely special!  This informational book reads easily and includes interesting facts and illustrations showing the world before us and the creatures that met their fate in this unassuming pit of tar. It's a grisly topic, though presented in a kid friendly manner, so extra sensitive little scientists may want to skip for now.  For everyone else that loves easy informationals about fascinating locations, this one is a winner.
