In this beautiful "how to" nonfiction picture book, Kwame Alexander captures the hearts of readers yet again. This book teaches poetry by example. The author describes how you can paint a picture with words and does so using beautifully flowery language. The illustrations by Deanna Nikaido create the perfect pairing to the lyrical text. They capture the whimsy and imagination you use when creating a poem. As a poetry lover, I thought this book is the perfect way to inspire others and convert them to become poetry fans.
