A little girl goes with her mom and her doll to the beach in the winter. They explore the sand, wave pools, and creatures by the water. After a day of exploring they return home, warm up, wash, eat, and go to bed.

The entirety of the text of this book is made out of letter "S" words and it tells a such a  sweet story. It creates a strong nostalgic pull to anyone who has experienced being near the coast, especially in cold weather. The illustrations will have you staring, captivated by the detail and imagery, no matter your age. Although it may be chilly during their beach day, this book is sure to warm your heart!

Faces of the Moon by Bob Crelin Illustrated by Leslie Evans Charlesburg; 2009; unpaged Faces of the Moon is a short nonfiction book that describes the different phases of the moon and why the moon appears like it does on certain nights. This book is short and sweet so even the youngest of moon lovers will enjoy it. The layout is simplistic and easy to follow. I don’t know much about the moon so I found it very interesting.
