A poor woman lives in a small room with her baby daughter. As her daughter grows, the woman gives her a present each birthday and Christmas. The present is always a beautiful stone accompanied by a sweet poem with a promise. As the girl grows older, her mothers promises stand the test of time.

This is a wonderful picture book that illustrates the love between a mother and daughter. Through thick and thin the mother is there for her girl and wants her to succeed. The tender poems and moving illustrations help send home the message that even when a family is poor in money they can be rich in love.

Whether they're funny or sweet, these titles are all great for kids taking their first steps for reading. So without further ado...here are my five favorite easy readers of 2024.
