Truman is a small turtle (the size of a donut). He enjoys living in an aquarium and being with his owner Sarah (who is a little girl). One day Sarah puts on a backpack, puts a bow in her hair, and goes outside and catches a bus. Then Sarah is gone for a very, very long time. Truman gets worried. Truman decides to go off and find Sarah. His journey across the living room takes as much time as Sarah’s school day; fortunately when Sarah gets home, she and Truman and reunited and happy and loved by each other. This is a sweet story about how a pet might miss a child when they go off for their first day of school.

Faces of the Moon by Bob Crelin Illustrated by Leslie Evans Charlesburg; 2009; unpaged Faces of the Moon is a short nonfiction book that describes the different phases of the moon and why the moon appears like it does on certain nights. This book is short and sweet so even the youngest of moon lovers will enjoy it. The layout is simplistic and easy to follow. I don’t know much about the moon so I found it very interesting.
