Rocket to the Moon
By Don Brown
Amulet Books, 2019. Graphic nonfiction.
In 1969 Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin became the first humans to man a mission to the moon. This historic moment was the culmination of years of research, test launches, and scientific exploration. Rather than focusing only on Armstrong, Aldrin, and Michael Collins, this graphic novel nonfiction turns to the all the events leading up to the first moonwalk and how centuries of preparation were necessary to make history.
There are dozens of books about the moon landing - especially as we are celebrating the 50th anniversary this week - but this book stands out by not regurgitating the same well-known bullet points of the mission. Impeccably researched and beautifully illustrated this is an excellent volume for any budding astronauts - even those already familiar with the moon landing.
