This is the third book in the Royal Ranger’s series (the sequel series to the Ranger’s Apprentice that starts with The Ruins of Gorlan). In this book readers will learn what happens after the cliff-hanger of book two (where Maddie’s Mom and Dad are both sieged and under attack in two different places). Maddie has to take all that she has learned from Will Treaty and figure out how to save the day (and her parents and her country). This is a great story (albeit one that must be read after the others in the series) to show just how resourceful these rangers—and Maddie—are. Well told.
