The Crocodile and the Dentist

Originally published in Japan in 1984, this picture book is about a dentist and his toothy reptilian patient, both of whom are dreading their dental appointment with each other. Gomi's chunky, expressive illustrations and simple text create an understated little tale of perspective and empathy. The Crocodile and the Dentist is funny and clever, and with each line of dialogue repeated by both characters, it would be a fun choice for parent-child reading.
