Do you find that every now and again you need another good book to give away as an inspirational gift? If so, then this is a good book for you! In the book there are little snippets of text illustrated by a great picture. For example, the very first page reads ā€œBefore the cakeā€¦ā€ and has an illustration of a frazzled mother mixing a cake for a little kid (who has a bunch of flour falling on his head. Then turn the page and you see the result of the cake. Next comes the line ā€œbefore the peasā€¦ā€ with a girl in a highchair refusing to eat peas. Turn the page and you see an illustration of the same girl happily grinning while eating some peas (and while most of the rest of the peas are smeared all around her face, mouth, chest, and arms). So basically it is a book telling readers that before these great momentsā€¦sometimes there are hard moments or crazy moments. And then the ending is one of those uplifting, heart-felt bits of text that just make you want to go out and hug the world. So yeah, if you need to give another inspirational gift, then this is your next Rockinā€™ Read!

You Need to Read: Percy Jackson

I was a kid myself when  The Lightning Thief  by Rick Riordan was published, and it didn't take long for the Percy Jackson series to take the world by storm. Being the son of a Poseidon, Percy Jackson has some unique challenges as a half-blood. Here's some books that I think could've helped Percy when he was on his adventures trying to save the world: Greeking Out: Heroes and Olympians Written by Kenny Curtis and Jillian Hughes Illustrated by Javier Espila Washington D.C.: National Geographic, 2024. Informational. 191 pages. Percy, I know Chiron did a good job teaching you about mythology in Latin class, but this book is sure to be good to have on hand while you're traveling across the United States. Greeking Out  is written in a kid-friendly voice with vivid illustrations and a sometimes-snarky tone (much like Percy himself).
