Dorothea Lange: The Photographer Who Found the Faces of the Depression
By Carole Boston Weatherford
Illustrated by Sarah Green
Albert Whitman, 2017. Biography.
This picture book biography provides a good, basic introduction to Dorothea Lange for younger photography fans. It is does a good job of showing and explaining how her art made her both an artist and an activist - a good message to send home. The color illustrations are bright and cheery and it's fun to see an artist's rendering of her most famous photograph (Migrant Mother). This book is a good pick for kids learning about photography, but an even better pick to supplement discussion of the Great Depression.
