A Perfectly Messed-Up Story
By Patrick McDonnell
Little, Brown, and Company, 2014. Picture Book.
To the young boy who asked me to help find the book with jelly on every page:
Thank you! It was fun to search, based on your descriptions, until we found the right book. When I showed you a picture of the cover that matched your thoughts, your eyes lit up and it made my day. The best part was it inspired me to put the book on hold for myself. I wanted a turn to read the book that excited you so much.
What a funny book! Little Louie who tells the story made me laugh. The book also helps teach children to care for books. Clean hands are necessary for reading and food should not be near books. Crayons and scribbling don't belong in books either. Little Louie is a good sport, however, even though his story got all messed up, he makes the best of it at the end. He is determined to make a good story no matter what.
Next time you are in the library, please come up to the desk and ask me again for other fun books you are looking for!
