My Dad Use to Be So Cool
By Keith Negley
Flying Eye Books, 2016. Picture Book.
A young boy wonders why his father stopped being so cool. There is evidence around the house that he used to be in rock band—pictures of him singing and riding a motorcycle, and musical instruments stored in the closet. But now he is just normal, doing stuff like laundry and cleaning the house, making the boy wonder what happened to make his father change. After spending the day playing in the park with his father, he decides that maybe his father is still cool after all.
The adult reader will understand what made the change even if the little boy does not. A fun exploration of a father’s love through the small everyday things that he does.
