Clare Vanderpool
Clare Vanderpool’s Navigating Early was named a 2014 Printz Honor Book. Her first book, Moon Over Manifest, won the 2011 Newbery Medal. Born in Kansas, she lives in Wichita with her husband and four children. Clare decided in the fifth grade that she wanted to be a writer. It only took her to age 45 to achieve her dream.
Twelve-year-old Abilene Tucker is the daughter of a drifter who, in the summer of 1936, sends her to stay with an old friend in Manifest, Kansas, where he grew up, and where she hopes to find out some things about his past.
