Alice in Wonderland: the visual guide
By Jo Casey and Laura Gilbert
DK Publishing, 2010. 72 pp. Juvenile nonfiction.
In this beautiful visual guide to Tim Burton's film with illustrations, movie stills, and photographs, the reader is given a glimpse into the crazy world of Wonderland as well as a bit of Alice's life above ground. This book is particularly good for discovering small tidbits of information about this version of the story and for seeing some of the fantastic detail work up close. I particularly enjoyed seeing some of the costume details, such as Alice's dress and the Mad Hatter's amazing hats. I also loved all the heart-shaped bits from the Queen of Hearts' domain, such as the gorgeously asymmetric heart-shaped arch over the castle door. This book is a treat to view and really gives a wonderful taste of the artistic beauty of the film.
