It sounds bleak, but his contributions to literature have had tremendous influence on writers, artists, and filmmakers.
Lange gives straightforward descriptions of Poe and his life choices and includes many photographs of the writer and other significant people and places that played a part in his life.
A good read for boys and girls, 10 and older.
