Josie's parents are out of town which is the perfect excuse for her to invite her friends Jackson and Alison over for an unsupervised weekend of ghost hunting in the local cemetery. The group is trying to spot the infamous lady in white that has previously been captured in pictures at the graveyard in an attempt to write the perfect article that will guarantee them staff positions on the junior high newspaper. So on Halloween night, the kids sneak into Bachelor's Grove Cemetery and instead of seeing the ghost they were seeking, barely escape the cops. Things go from bad to worse when they each receive a text message with the message "I'm watching," and soon find Josie's home taken over by a specter.
If you are looking for a truly creepy ghost story for kids, this is a great choice. Lindsay Currie is excellent at ratcheting up the suspense in this mystery, while also bringing it to a satisfying conclusion that humanizes the ghost presence in their lives. For those that like their mysteries with a side of chills, this book is a great choice!
