Anyone else need a good cry every once in a while? Well, this book will surely bring you to tears. Lois Lowry beautifully draws together stories from World War II, both Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima, to capture the personal impact of each. In beautiful lyrics she blends stories tied to her own experiences living her earliest years in Hawaii and later moving to Japan near the time of these events. 

This quick read of poetic verses is a beautiful memoir and encourages reflection on this time in history that has had such a large impact on the world.
