The Terrible Two Go Wild
By Mac Barnett and Jory John
Amulet Books, 2018. 213 pages.
This is the third book in the hilarious series The Terrible Two. Miles and Niles are enjoying themselves while on summer vacation. Miles tells his mom that he is sleeping over at Niles’ house while Niles tells his parents that he is sleeping over at Miles’ house—meaning that both kids have ample time to hangout in their secret hideout in the woods. Plus, they are still getting in a few pranks by pranking Josh Barkin and the other cadets from a nearby boot camp that happens to be stationed in the very same woods (and they also are pranking Principal Barkin, though he seems to want to be pranked…).
If kids have read the first two books, then they will enjoy this summertime fun (and they can see just how Principal Barkin will react to the duo after he learns who the major pranksters are); however, if kids haven’t read the first two books in this series—they really should go and start with the first book. Some of the relationships between characters and references to past pranks and mischief making will make more sense if readers have finished the first two books. Give this book to kiddos who enjoy laughing, pranking, and reading about other kids who enjoy the lighter side of life (or like books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dork Diaries, or Captain Underpants).
