by Joanna Walsh
illustrated by Judi Abbot
Simon and Schuster, 2014. Picture Book
No one deserves to be recognized on Valentine's Day more than mom. This charming, poetic book reminds the reader of all the wonderful things a mother does. Folding paper airplanes, picking up messes, or baking cakes, mom does it best. Walsh's poem appears as a few lines of text per page, printed in a large, attractive font. The feature family in Abbot's bright and cheerful illustrations is a happy tiger and her two cubs and background characters are all different animals. This is a great book for a preschooler and a mother to read together, or for an older child to read to his/her mom on Valentine's Day, Mother's Day or any day.
