By Aaron Becker
Candlewick Press, 2013.  Unpaged picture book.

This stunning wordless picture book shares the story of a lonely young girl in a boring, drab world.  Everyone in her family is too busy to play, and she retreats to her room with her napping cat.  When even her cat leaves, she discovers it had been laying on top of a red marker with extraordinary powers.  Using the marker to draw a door on her bedroom wall, she escapes into a colorful world full adventure, and her magical journey begins!  In his debut book, Becker creates breathtaking and complex illustrations using watercolor, pen, and ink.  Journey is sure to capture the imagination of any child (or parent) and prompt many repeated explorations.  A Junior Library Guild Selection.  For a sneak preview, watch the book trailer here!
