Melissa Abigail Rose, better known as Missy, is a very busy little girl. She has her own unique sense of style which can be a little too much for her mother to handle. Missy has the perfect outfit picked out for school picture day, but her mom has other ideas. But parents always get their way so Missy has to wear an outfit that is not Super Duper Royal Deluxe. She is not wearing any ruffles, ribbons, rainbows or sparkles...how dreadful! Luckily for Missy her friend Oscar is in a similar predicament. Together the two concoct a plant that will make both of them happy though their mothers might not feel the same when they receive their school pictures.
Missy's Super Duper Royal Deluxe is another charming new series from the Scholastic Branches imprint. This series is perfect for those just leaving the beginning reader area and moving into short chapter books. Missy's books are full of color and have elements of comic books and diary books that are sure to grab the attention of many young girls.

Faces of the Moon by Bob Crelin

Faces of the Moon by Bob Crelin Illustrated by Leslie Evans Charlesburg; 2009; unpaged Faces of the Moon is a short nonfiction book that describes the different phases of the moon and why the moon appears like it does on certain nights. This book is short and sweet so even the youngest of moon lovers will enjoy it. The layout is simplistic and easy to follow. I don’t know much about the moon so I found it very interesting.
