Now I Am Big!
By Stephen Krensky; illustrated by Sara Gillingham
Abrams Appleseed, 2012. Unpaged. Small picture book (board book).
This is a brief but great book about a toddler who is a "big kid" and recognizes all the things he is able to do now that he is grown. Once he was too short to reach an apple tree, but now that he is older, he can pick an apple on his own! Paired with Sara Gillingham's striking, retro-modern, antiqued illustrations, this is a true winner for toddlers. Not only will they appreciate the message, but they will love the bold colors and graphic shapes in the pictures. The brevity of the book is also a big plus for parents who will certainly be asked to read this story over and over!
