This non-fiction picture book is a vibrant visual guide not just for Brooklynites! Each page features a letter and illustrations about the colorful New York borough. The unique city provides for pages and pages of interesting history- from baseball and brownstones to stoops and street fairs. There are nods to the arts, such as an appearance by Walt Whitman (Leaves of Grass) on the "W" page, and little Francie Nolan (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn) on the "T" page. Selina Alko has written and illustrated a wonderful tribute to the city she calls home, a picture book that will put anyone in a New York state of mind!
