Can't remember the title of that book we read in story time earlier this week?
Check back each Friday for a recap!
READ IN TODDLER TIME
By Bob Shea
Disney Hyperion Books, 2011. Picture Book.
Dinosaur has a loud roar! He loves to have roaring contests with all of his friends and always wins. However, one day he goes to the library and has to use his indoor roar. Then he faces his biggest challenge -- will he be able to not roar during story time?
Bob Shea's bright and whimsical illustrations will attract little ones to this read aloud favorite, and an abundance of animal sounds will have them mooing, peeping, and roaring right along with you!
READ IN PRESCHOOL TIME
By Mo Willems
Hyperion Books for Children, 2010. Easy Reader. 57 pages.
Elephant and Piggie are back, and they're so excited when they realize that they are in a book and being read by a reader! Lots of bouncing, dancing, and excitement ensues, and they crack themselves up when they realize they can make the reader say silly words like "banana." The friends experience a small crisis when they realize the story will end, but soon realize that they can be read again! Fans of Mo Willems, big and small, will surely be delighted.
READ IN PRESCHOOL TIME
By B.J. Novak
Dial Books for Young Readers, 2014. Picture Book.
Yes, this really is a picture book with no pictures! But kids will be howling with laughter when their adult reads it aloud because..."Here is how books work: Everything the words say, the person reading the book has to say." And considering this particular book was written by a comedian who worked as a writer, actor, director, and executive producer on The Office, you can bet that there are some great sounds happening here. A crowd favorite every time!
