Dear Girl
By Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Paris Rosenthal
Illustrated by Holly Hatam
HarperCollins Publishers, 2017. Picture Book.
Dear Reader,
You should read this book! It is in the form of short notes that all start “Dear Girl” and then give great advice to girls. Advice like: “Dear Girl. You know what’s really boring? When people say how bored they are!” Or advice like: “Dear Girl. Make your room awesome. Make your room you. And while you’re at it, make your bed!” Basically, this is a good book that has a lot of good things to say to girls—girls who might not know how wonderful it is to be girls. Dear Reader, you should read this book! (I know I already said that, but there just aren’t enough exclamation marks in the world to tell you how much I love this book!) Then you should read it to all the girls in the world that need to know that girls are important and amazing (just like boys). And if you happen to be a girl, know that you and your life are worth something. Seriously. This is a book to read and love. Then read again.
Love,
Your Children’s Librarian
