Beep! Beep! Go to Sleep!
By Todd Tarpley
Illustrated by John Rocco
Little, Brown and Company, 2015. Picture Book.
In rhyming, text a young boy tries to put his three robots to bed but each time as he falls asleep they keep getting up—needing a night light or a drink of oil, complaining that a fan belt is loose, and most importantly needing a bedtime story. Rocco’s humorous illustrations of the robots’ antics (kids will love the bathroom scene) brings out the humor of the text. As you read, look for the mouse on each page spread, included because the author’s daughter thought his book needed a mouse. This book will be a nightly read repeat for sure. One of my favorite picture books that I have come across this year.
